Hi Treyarch, I just wanted to know if/when the paged pool size error is going to be fixed in the patches? I keep looking for it to be mentioned, but I'm not seeing it so I thought I'd post. When I first got Black Ops, it crashed every single time it tried to load a map (any map, single or multiplayer didn't matter). It would give the error message saying your Direct3D device ran out of memory, despite the fact that I have a brand new 460 GTX video card that works just fine in other games, and the latest 260.99 drivers.
Reading online I found I wasn't the only person with this problem, and it occurred in a variety of operating systems and video cards. I tried all the mundane suggested fixes and none of them worked, until I finally got desperate a read about how 1 guy suggested editing the registry to increase the paging pool size. I followed his directions, and what do you know, it worked! Mostly. The game still crashes if it tries to load the Hanoi map, and if I play some of the other larger maps like Launch it will corrupt my texture files and start causing bright yellow blocks of color to replace more and more textures until the game crashes. If I exit the game and have Steam re-verify the game's files it usually fixes it, and sticking to smaller maps like Nuketown usually prevents any problems. Having anything else running in the background is sure to cause the same problem.
Anyway, I just wanted to make sure this problem is known, and to know if there is any ETA for a real fix. Nuketown is getting a little boring, and after re-verifying my files for the 10th time today, that's getting a little tiresome. I'm glad that editing the paged pool size let me play the game (I'm already on level 33 of 1st prestige), but I'm hoping this will be fixed for good soon.
