First off let me say I'm a total freak about the Call of Duty series, but I especially love the Nazi Zombies. I think that putting Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty: World at War was one of the smartest ideas in video game history, seriously. Releasing more maps besides Nacht Der Untoten was an obvious choice after the success of the first map. All my friends love Nazi Zombies, we played the first one over and over, hoping for another level to be released.
On March 19 I got my wish and immediately bought Microsoft Points and downloaded Map Pack 1. I invited a friend over the next day and I can truly say that was one of the most enjoyable video game experiences of mine ever. I love that Perks-a-Cola machines, Electroshock "Zappers", and two starting locations were added to Nazi Zombies, along with a bigger map with more rooms. In addition, the zombies were smarter and now you had an objective--turn on the power. The multiplayer maps were sweet, too, I especially liked Knee Deep's beauty and intensity. My buddies and I thought it couldn't get any better.
But it did. Map Pack 2 was even better than the first, in my humble opinion. Banzai was the best-looking map I ever saw in any game Sub Pens and Dome remain my favorite smaller maps. Shi No Numa was the real highlight for me--my friends too, we always play that when they come over--I loved the openness of the map and the addition of the sip line and Flogger. The Hellhounds and Japanese Zombies were pretty sick also. I think the idea of the Wunderwaffe DG-2 was pretty cool, too, and finally Japanese weapons! TI love how their are now four characters and a story to go along with them.
Now that the third map pack, Der Riese has been announced to come out on August 6th, I'm actually looking forward to the next week (I wasn't before because my school starts up on the 20th). Breach, Battery, and Revolution look fun. Der Riese looks like the coolest Zombie Map yet, with the teleporter, Bowie Knife, Monkey Bomb, Fly Trap, Pack-a-Punch, and 10 new achievements/trophies. I would've never thought of all that but I'm definitely glad you guys did. I know some people are saying that the third map pack is the final, but I'm looking forward to more. How could they not continue? Map Pack 1 and 2 both sold over a million. Everyone loves Nazi Zombies.
I really will be disappointed and I'm sure millions of other fans will be too if Der Riese is the last of the Nazi Zombies. Please, continue making more map packs.
